3.2 Design team process and products: student cases
In this section you will get some insight into the examples the five design teams came up with and how they were developed.
3.2.7 Fourth student case: 100% Baby
The design team 100% Baby presents their game Pick a Baby which is a game concept exposing and challenging players hidden biases in order to make them more aware about their attitudes and hidden prejudices towards appearances. Utilizing Henry Jenkins’ concept of evoked narratives and games as designs for behavioral change (the thinker role). The game presents the gameplayer with a fun colourful gaming experience where the player is asked to choose between two babies in a Tinder-style interface (the coder role). The controller is made to support the seemingly cheerful, cute and light pick a baby game by having the player interact and choose in the game through rattling two giant colorful rattle controllers. In the end the people's fun and light experience with choosing between different babies are revealed to them on a scoreboard highlighting any biases in their choices when selecting babies (e.g. disabilities, color, gender etc).
