1.5 Performance
1.5.1 Performance Art
Performance art is an artistic practice in which artists, called "performers", produce a work of art live in front of an audience. The latter are not necessarily performative works in the first place but become so insofar as they are presented, not in their finished version, but through their production. What makes art in this discipline is no longer the finished work but the gesture, the movement and the process of creation. Therefore, the artistic disciplines concerned by Performance Art are particularly varied and combine "without any preconceived ideas the visual arts, theatre, music, video, poetry and cinema" (our translation), according to Patrice Pavis.
